My Cellulite Journey

Nancy Gioeni with Glamour Nutrition Talks about her very own struggles with cellulite.
I absolutely hated the Cellulite on my legs!
I was on a mission to figure out how to get rid of it. What was cellulite? and why was I getting it?
For many years I simply refused to wear a pair of shorts because of my cellulite (and living in the south that’s not an easy choice - I did, however, learn to love Capris.) My other siblings didn’t show signs of cellulite and yet MY legs looked like I was smuggling cottage cheese in them - I can laugh about it now.
I’ve thought, many times, of going the more drastic route, LIPOSUCTION! Yikes! I watched numerous videos of the procedure but could never bring myself to actually go through with it. The thought of having someone shove a large needle repeatedly in and out of my legs, sucking out fat along the way, seems a smidge to extreme and not to mention it looks so incredibly painful and can even be a dangerous procedure to undergo. No thanks!
So… What can I do to combat this on my own? I started with changing my diet which meant cutting out fats, carbs and salt and started trying out different brands of topical creams, scrubs and even coffee grounds. I faithfully rubbed them nightly onto my legs and Buttocks ….Yep! The cellulite had spread to there now too! But never really saw any change at all.
What was I missing? According to my research The exact cause of cellulite is unknown, but is from an interaction between the tissue right below the surface of the skin, and the layer of fat that is just below it. The appearance of cellulite comes from the fat cells protruding into that top layer. I also found out that as we get older our skin starts to thin therefore the cellulite becomes more prevalent. So if we do not know the exact cause than there can’t be an exact solution…Right? If I can’t make it go away can I make it appear as it has?
That’s when I turned my attention to Collagen supplements. I learned that taking collagen helps replace collagen that is lost in the body and since Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and it gives structure to your skin.
Research has shown that Collagen consumption can increase skin elasticity and help your body’s skin repair. Although I know my cellulite didn’t vanish completely but i'm assuming, due to it helping my skin repair, they are way less noticeable and that’s alright by me.
My favorite collagen supplement Made by Glamour Nutrition, is Glamour Collagen and here’s why.
· It’s made from premium bovine Collagen
· It’s a powder (I can drink it at any time in the day -usually mid-afternoon)
· It comes in single serve stick packs - super convenient!
· It tastes great
· It comes in Natural as well (which I switched to)
· More flavors to choose from ( my fav-Strawberry-Lemonade)
I am happy to say that I am finally able to "confidently"wear shorts again!
I’ll never have model legs but at least I’m not embarrassed to show them any more.
